Great discussion. I moved from KY to Louisiana and I lowered my prices to pull clients. Once I finessed the market enough, I slowly moved my prices back up. Doing that allowed me to work with a good amount of influential clients.

Great story. I also quit my 8-5 job in June to begin freelance work in design and construction. But I’ve also been a photographer and cinematographer since I was a kid. I really enjoy your videos and inspiration. Love the creative energy!

Its important to learn the rules and understand them, so that you know why and when to break them.

Great video, bro. I can honestly relate to almost everything you've said. I work 13 hr shifts in a chemical plant and have been juggling my family, product reviews, location reviews, photography, creating for social media, and trying to stay active in the gym. It becomes overwhelming at times. Ultimately, I want to get away from working for anyone else for all the reasons you've stated. I had to pull away from social media, just so I could prepare myself and focus on my mission.

I'm new to your channel. Because of an ass of husband Ive been kind of forced to figure out how me and my 3 special needs kids are gonna make it on our own. I tore down his home gym and am going to try to have a in-home photography studio specifically for special needs kids. I have about 3 grand worth of stuff sitting in my Amazon cart. Debating on getting a new camera body because I'm not feeling my DSLR is good enough. Maybe you and your wife could think about also doing photography consultation via zoom calls for beginners like me. Luckily, I do know my way around the creative suite. I feel like I need guidance into my expectations with this business. I'm in Houston. Even though I'm new it's nice to see you back.

I really love that notion about not forcing things, and letting them come to you naturally. I knew going in that I wanted to do paid photography, but I didn't want to just launch that with no direction. Found the niche, and now I'm getting clients here and there. Glad to see you back in the saddle and creating with a good mindset!

I basically waited until my client offered to pay... That was about a year and then my photography started getting good. My prices went from nothing to $60 when I had my first paying client to $75 for 20 min mini sessions and $225 for an hour session

I just learned you should use the word deposit or nonrefundable deposit. A retainer is money that still belongs to the client and is held in escrow or trust by you. Thanks for the nice video.
